Nolwandle is a female name meaning "sea" in isiXhosa and refers to the size of my love for the sea. Nolwandle is registered as SA 2432 (call sign ZR6942) and is a Cascade 36 sloop based in Hout Bay, South Africa. I hope you enjoy reading about my "Sea Lady".

Hi Nolwandle, I just stumbled upon your post on Palestine's right to exist, and I just want to thank you for vocalizing the truth. It is so wrong that the world has turned their eyes away from the genocide that is occuring in Gaza, just like in South Africa, the settlers act as the victims, while bulldozing and killing an oppressed people.
Thank you for the courage

The reason that they show the stern with a different look is that the changed the stern and have designed a stern addition
That you see on on Raindrop sailing into Hawaii for the finish of the shtp race in 2008.

Thanks for posting that image! We have what may be original 1986 44STs on our Wauquiez Pretorien and this diagram seems to match ours except for perhaps one thing.

Did you have a third set of hexes near the gear spindle that were bigger than 5mm but smaller than 6mm (and larger than 3/16 but smaller than 1/4) and if so, were you able to get the gear spindle off simply with a flat screwdriver or did you take off those hexes to open the assembly?

I've emailed Lewmar asking for a manual that covers the 44ST of this age and if I get one I'll email it to you if you want.

Hi!

The first three photos of Cascade 36's on your "other Cascades" page are of my boat! The photos were taken by the previous owner who named her "Rythmic Breeze." When I bought her two years ago, I renamed her "Lodochka" which is Russian for "dear little boat." She is in dry storage in San Carlos, Mexico. I lived on her the winter before last. For the past year I've had health problems that have kept me from returning to her. I put her up for sale, but so far no takers. If my health recovers and she doesn't sell, I'll winter on her again.

I like your webpages!

Hi Peter

I am glad that Contradiction has found a good home, is in regular use and that you have kept her name. I also had a lot of fun sailing her.

I don't have much more on her than what is on the website, in particular the brochure that Angelo Lavranos sent me, which is on the Nolwandle site. There are only three other Gazelles, but I don't know where they are. I think there are about 20 Quaggas - the navy owns a few which are moored off the Navy Dockyard in Simonstown. I have also see some at SAS Saldanha.

Can you send me some photos of her as she is now. I will put them on the Nolwandle site if you agree.

Many regards
